Last week I had the opportunity to interview Janet Attwood, co-author of The best-seller, “The Passion Test”. As a broadcaster, I receive many books to review for potential guest interviews. Within the first 35 pages, I knew this book would become one of my top books to recommend. She was a blast to chat with!
In the first part of the book, Janet outlines the steps to identify your top five passions using The Passion Test. The distinction she makes between passions and goals is:
Passions arise from the heart. Passions are how you live your life.
Goals are the things you achieve.
Her example on page 26: Living a life of peace could be a passion. Creating peace in the world is a goal. Living life in abundance could be a passion. Eliminating poverty on earth is a goal.
She says, “When you are clear, what you want will show up in your life, and only to the extent that you are clear.”Â
I asked myself, “Have I identified my 5 core passions?” so I started to make a list and I discovered that much of what I am currently doing is a reflection of what I am most passionate about.
Here are two of mine:
- Being of service to people all over the world
- Helping people fulfill their soul purpose and destiny
Did you know that October is Passion Awareness Month? Have you identified your 5 core passions? She suggests making a list of 10-15 passions beginning each statement with a verb relating to being, doing or having, which completes the sentence:
When my life is ideal, I am _____________________
To discover what your top 5 passions are are, I encourage you to pick up a copy of The Passion Test. Take a few minutes to watch the Passion Day Movie too.
In the book, you’ll also read Janet’s interviews with leaders in the field including Debbie Ford, Jay Abraham, Marcia Shimoff, Stephen Covey and others. You’ll learn ways to living life aligned with your passions.
One point that stood out in my mind from my interview with Janet was this:
When feeling conflicted over a decision, choose in favor of your passion.
Have a fabulous weekend

Hey Lorraine
I’m working my way through that book right now and I am loving the insights I am gaining.
As you know, I am committed to the inner work but was still a little surprised at my (current) top 5 passions. It’s now so easy to make decisions as I simply ask myself if it’s in service of any of my top 5 passions and if it’s not, I leave it, no guilt, no fuss, no stress!
Strongly recommend the Passion Test.
In peace, love and success x x x

Beautiful Lola
I also ask whether a choice is in line with my values and vision. They all align so it does make the confusion so much easier to clear when you really know what you love and stand for.
I love The Passion Test too!
Blessings,
Lorraine
