About a week ago I received Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith’s, Life Visioning Program. I was inspired to order the 4-CD set after hearing recommendations from a good friend and downloading the pdf transcript of an interview with Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith By Kathy Juline, This interview originally appeared in the December 1996 issue of Science of Mind® magazine. Access your copy
Below is an except from the transcript that ignited my thinking:
What is the difference between visioning and the technique of visualization?
“Visualization is a beginning phase in metaphysics in which we mentally conceive of something we want. We imagine doing it or having it and we generate the feelings that would accompany the experience. Visualization involves having an idea of what we want to accomplish or how we want to live our life, then imaging that goal as already achieved and establishing the necessary mental and emotional vibrations to bring it forth and manifest it. Visualization is a beautiful and wonderful stage in our evolution, and it’s very important.
Visioning is a process by which we train ourselves to be able to hear, feel, see, and catch God’s plan for our life or for any particular project we’re working on. An organic process that has evolved for me as I grow spiritually, it is based on the idea that we’re not here to tell God what do or to ask God for things but to absolutely be available for what God is already doing, to open ourselves up to catch what’s already happening. When we do visioning, on the other hand, we align in consciousness with our divine purpose, which is to love and to express a greater degree of life. Then we open ourselves to catch a sense of how that expression is supposed to occur through us”.
When I review the steps many folks talk about regarding The Law of Attraction, it looks more like the technique of visualization rather than visioning. Visualization creates the outpicturing of our dreams and desires which then invites us to step into the visioning process that involves all of out 5 senses. When we are aligned with our soul destiny, we begin living the vision that is the Divine plan for our life.
Lately, I have been asking different questions within myself that have been inspired by Michael Beckwith’s Life Visioning program:
- What do I desire to manifest in my life?
- What am I saying yes to? No to?
- How does God see itself as my life?
- What is the vision God has for me as my life?
- Who do I need to become to embody that vision?
I love these kinds of questions because they bring dreams and desires into a higher level or potential; into the realm of imagination through the mind of God/Creation/Source energy. I experience a sense of freedom and inner expansion when I feel into these questions.
For quite some time I have felt the deep desire (and nudging) to allow my inner wisdom, God, soul, Source energy… to be the guiding force in all areas of my life, in all of my experiences. This means combining my inner knowing with business strategies and allowing the Universe to work with me and through me. That means I don’t have to make everything happen if I trust and believe the Universe is conspiring in my favor to bring me everything I need for my highest and best good.
One of the suggestions made on one of the CD’s was to partner with someone to begin a visioning process of aligning with God’s greater vision for ourselves. I believe the visions we might hold for ourselves are smaller than the ones God holds for us.
Some additional questions to explore in the visualizing to visioning process
- What qualities do I seek to grow?
- What habits do I need to release?
- What strengths do I wish to expand?
- What gifts and talents do I need to own (that I might be dis-owning?)
- How can I allow my gifts, talents, strengths, and qualities to help me fulfill my soul destiny?
- What identities do I need to shed to allow the real parts of myself to fully emerge?
- What is seeking to emerge, to be fully expressed in service to humanity?
Your vision partner holds the space for the desires, intention and vision you hold for yourself to actualize. To understand the full process, I encourage you to purchase a copy of Life Visioning.
Our lives - our relationships, business, abundance are an outward reflection of who we believe ourselves to be. To change our life, we must transform the beliefs and behaviors that keep us from receiving ALL THE GOOD WE DESIRE…….and that is desired for us to have. I believe we are all here to be happy, prosperous, experiencing and sharing love in the world.
Have a terrific holiday weekend. Dream BIG!
Cheers

Thanks for making the distinction clear between visualization and visioning. After reading it, I totally agree on what is said; that visioning is about living our Divine plan and visualizing is the act of manifesting what we desire.
Your list of questions is important to bring visualisation into visioning. Many of us just stop at the visualisation stage and forget how important it is for the alignment.

It was a new distinction for me too Evelyn
I’m now actively meditating on both and there is a sense of lightness and joy when I put my attention on visioning that is new for me. Being is alignment is essential for bringing visualization and visioning together.
Many thanks for your thoughts!

It never ceases to amaze me, the perfect timing of the universe that is. I was just at B&N and the audio cd’s literally jumped off the shelf to me as I was looking at something else. I can see the distinction very clearly as it is brought to my attention. Thanks for the preview Lorraine and keep up the good work.

LOL - I have had those same thoughts numerous times David
In fact, I must say that purchasing these CD’s was definitely a nudge from the Universe. I am loving them and feeling the shift already occurring as a result of listening to them just once.
Enjoy David
Blessings,
Lorraine

Brilliant Lorraine,
Holding your vision, asking what is my vision are great questions and it is good to see this distinction being made.
This is both more challenging and more real than visualization for me. In some ways it comes back to asking what is my purpose.
Thanks for sharing this

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Suzie
The way I understand this is connecting with the Divine for the answers to the questions - how does God see itself as ‘Me” as my life and what is God’s vision for my life? takes the questions and answers out of the physical mind,to hear, sense…. what God desires and envisions. I find that to be so expansive and freeing to sense something far greater that what I might identify as my purpose.
Blessings,
Lorraine
