I’ve heard about tithing for years. Tithing activates the flow of abundance which is a Universal Law and many believe it to be a critical key to financial freedom. The natural law of the Universe is a give-and-take circular flow.
The idea is to generously and joyfully give 10% of whatever income you receive to another person, organization, or constructive activity you wish to support. Years back, tithing was associated with donations to religious institutions. Nowadays, it could be to anyone, except family members because the money still remains within the family.
It’s been years since I practiced tithing. About a month ago, a close friend and colleague encouraged me to begin giving money away. Yes, I know it can seem difficult when your pocketbook feels tight. Do it anyway even it’s a few bucks. Do it with joy and appreciation for all the people and things that grace your life.
When you give money away with loving gratitude for our daily gifts of life, we are opening to the natural law of ten-fold return. If you give $100 away, you open the doors to receive $1000 in return from a variety of sources. Consciously say, “I AM receiving $1000 from the limitless flow of abundance from God (whatever name you use), with the highest good of all concerned”.
When claiming your ten-fold return, be sure to feel gratitude in your heart for that gift. To stay in receivership, let go of worrying where it will come from as you work with this opportunity of having trust and faith that it will return to you.
I write this today because I know money worries are on the minds of many people. So much fear is wrapped up in poverty consciousness that makes life full of struggle and drudgery. It does not have to be that way!
If you give money (whatever amount you can give away is a place to start!) you will be seeding your future.
Like attracts like.
If you want money, you must give money. If you want more time, you must give time to another. If you want more love, share more love with others
This is a Universal Law.
If you have money worries and are challenged to make ends meet, test this out for yourself. Look for opportunities to contribute love offerings for the gifts in your life.
And, when writing a check or paying for goods and services, do so with appreciation and gratitude rather than bemoaning the bill. Let the money go freely so that it can expand and return more of what you desire and need.
I invite you to return and share your experiences!
Blessings
Lorraine

Yes,Lorraine, I agree with you. Tithing is something to give back to God.
I have been practicing tithing for many years now, and sometimes it can
be painful, unless our heart’s focus is right. When I was drawing a very
good income during my sales career, 10% of my gross can be someone’s
monthly salary, frankly, I did say ouch!!! sometimes.
But by giving 10% away, you are truly practicing abundance in the universe.
I am aiming to do that again. This will be my conscious goal for my near future.

I’m getting back into that practice Gamy
I believe as you, it is a way to give back to God. It completes the circle of giving and receiving!
Here’s to the flow of abundance in our lives - in all forms!

Hey Lorraine
I am also working my way up to the 10% tithe. It’s been a journey so far but am at the stage where I am enjoying giving so it’s coming.
I think the frame of mind is very important so giving through guilt or manipulation will probably give you back tenfold of the manipulation or guilt!
Also, there’s a huge part of the population that find it very easy to give but don’t know how to receive. It’s just as equal a part of the flow as giving, it’s all about balance after all.
In love, light and abundance x x x

You gotta start somewhere Lola
It does come Lola. I’ve seen it this week from a variety of sources. It’s been such fun!
I agree with you about how important is to be able to BOTH give and receive. I believe you cannot truly give from the heart if you are unable to receive love (in all forms) in return!
Love and light to you too sweetie

Lorraine, though I may not be a Christian, I’m so with you on the concept of giving.
Only with giving comes receiving. It seem a simple concept, but it’s something that many people grapple with.
Thanks for providing such a good insight into this! I’m constantly learning and practicing it too myself.
Cheers,
Ellesse

I see tithing as a spiritual practice. I know many associate tithing with a religious practice.
Like you Ellesse, I see it as keeping the flow of money circulating and its a way of expressing gratitude for all we have.
It’s creating some conversation which is great.
Take care

I have always been a tither, since I got my first job when I was 17 years old. I grew up in a household that tithed 10% or more very faithfully. Even when things were tight, we always had food on the table and clothes on our backs. I have seen our family rewarded many times for our giving.
I believe in reaping and sowing. I know that sometimes it’s hard not to give begrudingly. Sometimes it’s easy to think of all the things you could do with that money. But then it’s easy to remember that God blessed you with your talents, abilities, and health to perform them.
I am also easily annoyed at how the media makes a big deal when celebrities give $10,000. When your yearly income is $5 million, then $10K seems like change. Besides, we’re told not to let our right hand know what our left hand is doing.
Right now I’m a stay-at-home mom that makes a mere few hundred dollars a month online blogging, yet we’re the best financially that we’ve ever been in our lives. No, we’re far from rich. We have an average income. It is amazing to see how God can take so little and make it stretch so far.
Dave Ramsey also teaches giving as part of his steps to financial freedom.

Here’s a big more info by Dave Ramsey, in case some of you are interested. My husband and I took his Financial Peace classes last year. We’re working on our steps to financial freedom and it’s awesome!

Thanks for adding your thoughts Karen
The subject of money and financial freedom is a big one for a lot of folks. I am finding the practice of tithing to be a component of financial flow that so many people know to be a key to their success.
I’m a believer in helping others to succeed and sharing the wealth through generosity. Tithing is a great way to do that.
Thanks for the links to Dave Ramsey.
Have a great weekend.
Blessings,

Hi Lorraine!
I can absolutely testify to the power of tithing. February has been a very challenging month ~ I almost didn’t tithe because of the financial challenges. (It’s easy to get scared, yeah.
)
But I decided to simply trust and just DO it.
The month is almost over, and I will get through this last week without hardship. In fact, I feel singularly blessed for all I DID have, and all this experience has taught me about abundance, gratitude, trust and allowing.
Love,
Pippa

It’s so important to share these stories Pippa
It’s one thing to encourage faith in the flow of abundance and another to embody it.
I had a great month myself and I know that tithing was a key to all the good I manifested. I find when I feel constricted in any way, financially or otherwise, doing something in gratitude and generosity, opens the flow.
Love,
Lorraine

Hi Lorraine,
Francois de La Rochefoucauld said that,
“Many people despise wealth, but few know how to give it away.”
This is why many people are poor. For me the act of tithing or giving is such a joyful one and the more I have; the more I’m able to give. Or is it the more I give; the more I have?
Warm regards
Nickolove

Hi Nickolove,
To me it is not about the worship of money or the desire to amass a fortune to hoard. I see money as an energy - a form of exchange for goods and services. A friend asked me last night what I would do if I won a big lottery jackpot. It was a blast thinking of all the things I might do!
Like you, I delight in being generous with others for the joy and pleasure of it. I think it goes both ways about giving more and getting more. Such fun!
Blessings,
Lorraine
