My response to the invitation for bloggers to unite on December 17 was to post an article on acts of kindness. I have written my submission a few days early. I just couldn’t wait!
Yesterday while speaking to a great friend of mine, she mentioned she was going to make a list of 100 things she’s gratefull for. My immediate response was wondering if I could complete the list. Could I name 100 things I’m gratefull for? Would I begin to draw a blank?
Last night, I sat down to give it my best shot. I wrote for 45 minutes and not only wrote 100 things (including people) who have been gifts in my life, I could have added a lot more. Included in my list were so many acts of kindness people extended to me in the course of this week.
I’m a believer and advocate of being in contribution to others; looking for ways to be of help to people who might need assistance in their business or in their personal life. We can assist others in so many ways - offering leads, referrals, sharing expertise and resources. Personally, we can lend an ear, give a hug, be a cheerleader, or give a kick in the pants to get moving. We can touch people with a kind word, a smile, a thank you, acknowledgments……
How many ways can you think of to be generous and kind?
When we show up for people in small and large ways through acts of kindness and support, we are offering them the gift of love which is the greatest gift we can offer anyone. Our true nature is unconditional love. We are meant to share our heart rather than suppress it. The amount of time and energy it costs to be unconditionally loving and kind (for the joy of it) is minimal. It’s such a great feeling.
Below are some of the gifts I received from the kindness of others:
1. On my radio show at Blog Talk a caller came on and asked a question that was profane. My guest was best-selling author Kevin Eikenberry talking about Remarkable Leadership. I was very upset the comment was included in the show and could be downloaded. The station host liaison had the comment edited and offered to upload the show back on the site for folks to play or download. She did this at 1am in the morning.
2. I attended an annual party for a non-profit I’ve volunteered at for the last 5 years. The hosts are incredibly generous to open their home and they have the entire event catered with the most sumptuous food. Their home is warm and inviting. The entire night is a feel-good evening. As you leave, each person is always given a thank you gift. This year it was cookies with different words baked into each one: Believe, Hope, Dreams. Ok. I took one of each!
3. A few days ago I wrote about the challenges I felt financially this week and how the Law of Attraction really works. I am blessed to have some great friends in my life. Two in particular were there to listen, cheer me on and celebrate my good fortune for the week. Yesterday my friend Karen thanked me for calling her to tell how successfull I was in attracting prosperity this week. She had been feeling a bit discouraged about her own finances and my story gave her hope and inspiration. It was wonderfull to return the act of kindness to her by boosting her spirits. How cool is that!
Today I am off to lunch and the theater with a good friend who is always so generous in helping others. She inspires me to be kinder to folks. Whenever I share my heart with others, I always feel good and I can feel my inner spirit smiling.
There is great power is kindness. Love transforms people and brings out their best. Imagine how we could transform the world by deliberately being kind to people every day. People who receive kindness are then kind to others. It’s a domino effect.
Imagine taking an active part in creating a wave of kindness that gains momentum around the world?
Are you game to take on this invitation?
Look for opportunities to be kind to people today. Find as many as you can! And if you enjoy how great it feels to help another, why stop at one day? I dare you to keep it up!
Have a great day!
Lorraine

Great, great list Lorraine. You have inspired me to do the same. I have also Stumbled your list so others can be inspired, too.
