5 Things To Be Gratefull For That Make Me Laugh

Happy Thanksgiving!

Each night I end my day writing two pages (sometimes one when I can’t keep my eyes open) of everything I’m gratefull for. I love finding new things to include each day and I always find them! So, for today’s post, I thought I’d create a list of 5 things I appreciate that make me laugh. Of course my two cats are included in the list because they are hysterical!

1. My cat’s head butts - each morning when I awaken, my cat Wesley walks up to me with a determined look in his eyes and gives me a series of head butts (which are kisses). What a way to start my day! PS. He can’t wait to be fed too!

2. My cat Cassie is one of the loves of my life. The other night I walked into one of the bedrooms and switched on the light. When I turned around she was perched on top of the desk and I was so startled I gave a small scream. She screamed too. It was adorable.

3.  Side-splitting humor. I love the old Marx Brothers movies and screwball comedies, Ellen DeGeneres and any other movie, show or comedienne who can make me laugh.

4. The ability to laugh at myself. I’ve been working at “lightening up” and not taking myself or life so seriously. Each time I catch myself being waaaay too serious I chuckle at my “Drama Queen” and bring my focus back to what’s really important!

5. Two weeks ago I had a technical glitch on my radio show with my guest Kathleen Gage. For the first 7 minutes she was unable to hear me talking to her. I wrote about this in a prior post. Although it was a bit stressful, I can still look back and laugh at how everything worked out despite a bumpy start. I will remember that experience when things don’t seem to be going my way.

What would you add to your list?

It’s easy to be gratefull for things that flow and feel comfortable. When we feel happy, appreciating people and things seem to some naturally right?

How about feeling gratefull for the people and things that challenge you? Push you outside of your comfort zone and cause you to feel squirmy?

I believe we can find something of value to appreciate in every life experience that offers us an opportunity to grow and evolve.

What can you be thankfull for today, and in the days that follow, that make you smile or cause you to feel uncomfortable? That’s my challenge to you - look for the gifts in each person and in each experience. You might be surprised at how much more you’re smiling? :D

Enjoy this cute video called two cats talking:

I’ve got another Friday Musings post coming up tomorrow and I’m taking a few days off for R & R. See you back next week!

  2. Being thankful makes you less grumpy on 23 Nov 2007 at 7:17 pm: 2

[...] Thankfulness is tied to an emotion.  As you begin to say and think thankfulness you will feel the emotions attached to it.  I am yet to write on this but will do shortly.  The underlying emotions you have are largely governed by your inner thoughts.  If you begin to cultivate an attitude of thankfulness for what’s going right, what’s going wrong won’t seem like such a big deal.  As you cultivate these attitudes (I am still working on it) you will find like I have that it will transform the way you see life.  You will begin to see opportunities you never knew existed.  Why?  Because you have began to be thankful for what you have and tied to that is the idea that something good is always going on in your life.   Things are never as bad as they appear.  Sure, you may be bankrupt, out of a job, going through a messy divorce but that’s just a problem.  There is something good going on in your life right now.  Focus on that and I promise you things will get better over time.
