Letting It Go & Going With The Flow!

On Thursday, November 8, I posted an announcement inviting folks to tune into my radio show at Blog Talk Radio to hear my conversation with internet marketer Kathleen Gage. Kathleen’s a good friend of mine as well as a strategic partner. She’s been on my show several times. She’s a great guest and so generous in sharing proven tips and resources to support people in growing their business and generating prosperity.
So, I called in to my show at 4:55 right before we went on air and saw Kathleen logged through my switchboard. I unmuted her to say hello and hear no response. Now, at my end, I can hear the countdown letting me know how soon the show will be starting.
Now the show goes LIVE. I launch into my opening and welcome Kathleen. No answer. I can her typing away and I’m calling her name. Nothing. At this point, it’s clear to me she typing furiously to send me an email wondering what’s going on. I’m screaming, “Kathleen, Kathleen” and she’s not answering. She’s yelling. “Hello, hello”, and she can’t hear me. I’m yelling louder which is pretty nuts because if she can’t hear me, what difference is yelling louder going to do? I do this for several more minutes, muting and unmuting in the hopes she’ll miraculously be able to hear me while believing listeners can hear me desperately trying to connect with her. (I’m laughing as I write this).
Now, emails are going back and forth as we are talking to each other while the show is recording and she still can’t hear me. After 7 minutes of going nowhere, we both hang up and dial back in. I had to accept the fact that the show might be cancelled due to technical problems and let go of all the agitation and stress that has been building over the last 7 minutes.
Success. She could hear me! We couldn’t stop laughing! We were so happy and relieved to be talking to each other at last! Hearing the recording afterwards, I realize my line must have been totally muted while Kathleen was typing and yelling hello. No one could hear me babbling! (I’m laughing again!).
The show turned out great and we’re both believers in “everything happens for a reason.”
I could have reacted to what happened negatively, gotten upset, and angry and taken that into the rest of my evening. Instead, I burst out laughing in full appreciation of how crazy it was. I had to surrender to the situation that was not going the way I wanted. I had to let go of my desire to do the show and be ok with the possibility of cancelling it and rescheduling Kathleen.
Once we got started, the show seemed to take on a life of it’s own. I’m sure it had to do with letting go and going with the flow. We let the show create itself and had fun. I think it turned out great and I trust it unfolded perfectly. Amazing things happen when you stop struggling against the experience, be ok with what is, so that what’s next can happen.
Go listen. I think you’ll laugh, be inspired, pick up some tips, and enjoy the show. Thanks to my good friend and fellow blogger Gamy Rachel of Mind Think Success you’ll only hear several seconds of Kathleen typing and talking because she edited the show and sent it to me to upload onto the Blog Talk Radio site. Subscribe to the RSS feed and never miss a show which, I expect will begin on time next week…..or not.
A few weeks ago, I was tagged by Alex Blackwell, Tristan Loo, and Daylle Deanna Schwartz (boy I feel so included. Thanks!) to participate in a meme called, The Think Different Challenge created by Peter. While my post might be a slight deviation, I think it will fit. I also invite you to read my post last week - Gratitude: Finding The Gifts In The Experience.
To join in on the conversation I’m tagging my friends
Lola Fayemi
Gami Rachel
Carole Fogerty
Enjoy

Hi Lorraine,
Thanks for participating in the Think Different Challenge. Your post has nicely captured the spirit of the challenge!
I think anyone who deals with technology (and don’t we all these days?) is going to experience a hiccup every once in awhile. As you say, it is easy to get frustrated in such situations but the best thing to do is just let go of these feelings and go with the flow.
Ps I have added your article to my list. If you could tag some people that would be great

It’s a great meme Peter
How often do we take the opportunity to shift how we think and feel about our day-to-day experiences rather than reacting and becoming a victim of circumstance? I challenge people to let go of their attachment to the outcome and go with the flow. Life gets a whole lot easier and much more fun!
Bottom line is - fighting against the moment changes nothing. It just causes us more stress and aggravation!
I will think of some others to tag
Cheers,
Lorraine

No problem Lorraine, my pleasure to do something for a good friend.
I wasn’t meant to be there that day, but somehow I got there, so I guess this is the flow of my purpose being there, just in time to have some fun
Awesome interview with Kathleen !
Laughed so much, and also moved by the sharing by Kathleen.
Blessings
Gamy

There are no coincidences Gamy,
I loved the conversation with Kathleen. We always have a good time and Thursday was very special. I really appreciated how it combined information and lots of humanness.
I’ll have her back again for sure!
Enjoy your day!
