This weekend I went to the movies to see Hairspray.
Adapted from the 2002 Broadway musical (which was adapted from the 1988 movie), the story depicts the 1960’s nostalgia with TV dance shows and rock ‘n roll integration.

I wondered if it was going to be any good because I’m often disappointed with adaptations. Of course I just had to see John Travolta made up as a woman!
Well, it was great. A perfect feel-good movie with great stars, songs, and story line.
Two specific messages jumped out out me:
1. Even when the odds seems stacked up against you, dreams can come true when your desire is strong enough. The impossible can be possible. Probably wouldn’t hurt to sing a little too…..
2. When people band together for a worthy cause, they can move mountains. Having support sure makes a difference when you’re pitching an idea (or making a paradigm shift!)
How often do you give up when things looks too hard or insurmountable?
I encourage my clients to create a list of things that inspire and boost their attitude on those days when they need a lift and a new perspective. This might be one to go on that list!
One of my attitude boosters is a quote from Kitty Kelley: “Once I decide to do something, I can’t have people telling me I can’t. If there’s a roadblock, you jump over it, walk around it, or crawl under it.”
Need a pick me up? Go see the movie. It’s corny and it’ll make you smile.
