I just got off a teleclass facilitated by a friend of mine. This was her first class and I wanted to be there to support her. In prior conversations she has remarked that teleseminars are not her thing. She doesn’t really get a lot of value from that venue. She’s a hands-on person who enjoys the physical connections with people. Interacting brings out her best.
So, I was curious to see how she’d show up on the call. For her first time she did quite well. Her material was rich (no surprise) and her delivery was good despite the fact that callers were muted from asking questions or commenting until the end of the presentation. I could tell she was off her game.
Afterwards we talked for a bit. Having the opportunity to doing something new was a great learning experience. She’s all about having experiences that help her grow.
What was confirmed for her is that teleseminars without interaction is not where she shines. Teleseminars period, might not be a good vehicle for her in connecting with her target audience.
Taking calculated risks helps you to determine what you don’t want so you can discover what you do want.
To be at your best, put your attention and efforts in those areas where your gifts shine. Seeking opportunities that highlight your strengths and talents will bring you success and satisfaction. Doing what you love and having fun while you do it will make everything much more fulfilling.
And if you do decide to try something out of your comfort zone, consider creating a mental attitude that allows you to be in-training while you learn. In other words, if you have high standards for yourself and your business, remember no one is brilliant first time out of the gate. Developing expertise comes from learning from your mistakes and honing your skills through practice and experience. Cut yourself some slack so that you can become better at whatever you wish to improve.
